Malone Named Director of Esports

ANGOLA, Ind. – Trine University Assistant Vice President for Athletics Matt Land has announced that Tarvis Malone will become the school's next Director of Esports.

"We are glad to welcome Tarvis back to Trine University in a new role," said Land, "I am sure that his familiarity with the Midwest esports community and Trine will serve us well as he takes the reigns of our program."

Malone is a 2016 Trine University graduate. While a student he was a starter for the men's varsity basketball team. Off the court, he was already an avid gamer.

"I have been excited about the Trine Esports program since it was announced in 2016," Malone said, "I am truly excited to finally be involved with the program and look forward to growing it further."

Following graduation Malone's interest in esports expanded. Over the past year, he has been heavily involved with organizing esports events hosted at the University of Toledo. The events grew from small community-based events into larger tournaments that drew a statewide draw.

In addition to organizing the events, Malone brought his gaming skills to bear on these events. Malone reached the professional ranks by earning sponsorship and joining the ranks of FYC Esports.

Malone's earned a Bachelor of Science at Trine while majoring in criminal justice and psychology.
