WACO, Texas – Senior Keysean Amison has been named to the 2022 American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) Division III Coaches' All-America Teams as a first team selection.
He becomes just the third Thunder student-athlete to earn first team honors, joining Lamar Carswell (2018) and Taylor Sprague (2013). This is the second year in a row that Trine has had a student-athlete earn a spot on the AFCA All-America Teams, with now senior Kyle Naif earning second team honors after last season.
Last week it was announced that Amison would represent the team on the D3football.com All-Region team and before that he was named the 2022 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Defensive Most Valuable Player, also earning a spot on first team All-MIAA.
He was a menacing presence in the secondary for the Thunder throughout the season. During the MIAA portion of the season, he led conference competitors with 32 solo tackles, 38 assists, 70 total tackles and 11.7 tackles per game. Over the entire season he led those same categories among MIAA competitors and on the team with 53 solo tackles, 45 assists, 98 total tackles and 9.8 tackles per game. He also recorded a pair of forced fumbles to tie for most in the conference.
Amison earned MIAA Defensive Athlete of the Week for his performance against Hope College. During that game he turned in 19 tackles, a career single game high, while the team as a whole finished with 86. It is tied for the third highest single game total in the program's NCAA Division III history and tied for fifth overall.
