ALMA, MICH. -- After a career-high scoring effort in his previous game, junior Nick Bowman (Angola, Ind./Hamilton Southeastern) improved upon that mark with 30 points tonight against Alma (Mich.) College in a 97-75 win in Alma, Mich.
Bowman was one of three Trine players to score in double figures and shot 11-of-14 from the floor (78.6 percent), including a perfect three-of-three from three-point range and five-of-six (83.3 percent) at the free-throw line. Sophomore Brent Cox (Kendallville, Ind./East Noble) was second in scoring with 18 points and was a perfect three-of-three from behind the arc.
Sophomore Connor Jones (Danville, Ind./Danville) rounded out the high scorers with 12 points.
The two teams played at a back-and-forth pace for a good portion of the first half. The difference in the game came with both teams knotted at 31-31 when Trine (4-0) went on a 24-0 run to end the period and go into the locker rooms with a 55-21 advantage.
As a team, the Thunder had an impressive night from three-point range, shooting 47.6 percent (10-of-21). Additionally, the Trine offense committed jus five turnovers in 40 minutes of action.
Trine returns to action on Saturday, Jan. 23 when it hosts Olivet (Mich.) College at the MTI Center. The two teams are set to square off at 3 p.m.
