ANGOLA, Ind. – The Trine University men's basketball team moved up five spots in the week two D3hoops.com Top 25 poll to 19th in the country. The Thunder remain undefeated at 6-0 on the year.
The team traveled to Heidelberg University for their lone contest last week and Trine came away with the victory by a total of 82-72. Several records were set in the game, including senior forward Emmanuel Megnanglo who brought in 17 rebounds, tying him for the most in a game in the program's NCAA DIII era. The team also had 12 blocks, the most in any game in program history.
Senior guard Cortez Garland led the team in scoring against the Student Princes with 22 points and is currently the team's leading scorer at 17.7 points per game on average. Garland's eight rebounds in their most recent game is the most in his career as a member of the Trine roster.
Sophomore guard Nate Tucker and junior guard Drew Moore have been exceptional off the Thunder bench this season. Moore has done more scoring as he averages 8.5 points per game in his 17.3 minutes of time while Tucker has dished out 2.8 assists per game, which is second on the team only to junior guard Aidan Smylie (3.7).
In a doubleheader on Saturday, December 9, Trine will host the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point at 3 p.m. inside the MTI Center.
