JEFFERSONTOWN, Ky. - Zackary Sisk, Trine University men's bowling's first ever United States Bowling Congress (USBC) ISC Nationals singles qualifier started qualifying and match play at nationals on Tuesday, April 16.
Sisk made it out of the Smryna sectional back in March with the second-highest pinfall in the sectional with a six-game total of 1363. Qualifying was used to seed the top 24 remaining individual finalists, and Sisk completed his six game total with 1298 with games of 245, 203, 208, 224,216 and 202.
Sisk earned a first round bye and automatically found himself in the round of 16 where he bowled against Lindenwood University's Javier Muniz Vega. Sisk found himself 60 pins back after game one losing 235-175, but made a key ball change to win match two by a score of 225-176 to cut the deficit to 11.
Sisk capitalized on the opponent's slow game three start by opening up with a four-bagger, and finished with 224 to his 194 to earn a spot in the top eight.
Sisk is now one win away from the ISC TV show, which will air on CBS Sports in a few weeks. Competition starts back up on Wednesday morning where Sisk will take on the number two seed, Jaysen Sanbauer.
