ANGOLA, Ind. - Even after playing the final couple of holes in the rain, the Trine University men’s golf team turned in a solid performance at the MIAA Jamboree finishing 3rd with a team score of 300.
Trine played host to the fifth MIAA Jamboree of the season at the par-71, 6,384 yard Zollner Golf Course. After about an hour rain delay, the squads came back out in the rain to wrap up the final few holes they had to complete, as Calvin College went on to win with a team score of 294. The Thunder currently sit in fifth place in the MIAA season standings, 17 strokes behind the leader Adrian College.
Leading the way for Trine was sophomore Graham Bennett (Charlotte, N.C./Mallard Creek) who tied for 3rd with a round of 1-over-par 72. Senior Max Niehans (Nashville, Ind./Brown County), junior Pat Wolcott (Lansing, Mich./East Lansing) and sophomore Nolan Eli (Genoa, Ohio/Genoa) all tied for 16th with a 5-over-par 76. Rounding out the team scoring for Trine was senior Matt Warrener (Kendalville, Ind./East Noble) carding a round of 8-over-par 79 to finish in a tie for 28th.
Playing as an individual and finishing in a tie for 25th was senior Seo Young Youn (Korea) with a 7-over-par 78.
Trine will travel to Hope College for the next MIAA Jamboree on September 26 with tee time set for 1:00 p.m.
