ALBION, Mich. – In the first Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Jamboree event of the season, the Trine University men's golf team brought home a fourth-place finish at Duck Lake Country Club.
Hope College won the tournament with a team score of 295. The Thunder were 10 strokes back at a 305 for the round.
Mark Civanich [Valparaiso, Ind. / Valparaiso] had the lowest round for Trine with a 71. Civanich tied for second on the player leaderboard and was just one stroke off of a tiebreaker for the individual medalist spot. He birdied four holes on the day, including three on the front nine.
Brogan Brockie [Jackson, Mich. / Hanover Horton] shot a 75 and placed sixth. Brockie had the lowest back nine score for the entire event, shooting a 33 after making the turn. Brockie was bogey-free in the final nine holes and birdied par-4 holes 13 and 16.
Junior Mitch Lowney [Fenton, Mich. / Clarkston Everest] fired a 78 on Tuesday to play into a tie for 15th. He had one birdie on each of the two sides of the course.
Jack Brockie [Jackson, Mich. / Hanover Horton] and Charlie Eriksen [Bloomfield Hills, Mich. / Cranbrook Kingswood] tied for the final scoring spot, each shooting an 81.
Competing as an individual, Colin Crumrine [Newark, Ohio / Newark Catholic] finished the day with an 82.
The Trine men's golf team is back in action on Wednesday, September 8 in the Aquinas College Invite.
