WYOMING, Mich. – Kaufman Golf Course was a busy place Wednesday as Aquinas College hosted the Aquinas Fall Invite for men's and women's teams.
The Trine University men's team finished seventh at the event with a score of 332. Grand Rapids took home the team award with a 307.
Individual competitor Sean Hogan [Goshen, Ind. / NorthWood] shot a 76 and tallied a sixth place finish on the player leaderboard.
Nick Phillips [Yorktown, Ind. / Mincie Central] birdied the par-5 hole 7 and par-4 hole 14 en route to a team-low 80.
Sophomore Carter Rang [Fort Wayne, Ind. / Concordia Lutheran] was just one-back of Phillips with an 81. He went under-par on back-to-back holes: numbers 7 and 8.
Kyler Rod [Jackson, Mich. / Hanover Horton] and Mitch Blank shot an 85 and 86, respectively. In his first collegiate event, Rod secured a birdie on the par-3 8th hole. Blank tied Phillips for most pars in the round for Trine.
Nathaniel Acres [Fishers, Ind. / Fishers] finished play at 92.
The Trine men are off the rest of the week before hosting the Ken Venturi Invitational at Zollner Golf Course on September 14.
