MT. PLEASANT, Mich. – The Trine University men's golf team dominated the links on Saturday with the lowest team score in the second round at the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Fall Championship at Pahl Golf Course.
The Thunder completed the two-day event with a score of 620 (317-303), good for third on the leaderboard. Hope College was the fall championship team with a 615 (300-315).
At the conclusion of six conference rounds, Trine placed third in the MIAA and have qualified for an opportunity to receive the automatic qualifying bid for the NCAA Championships in the spring. The Thunder will be joined by Calvin University, Hope College, and Adrian College at that event.
On the player leaderboard, Mark Civanich [Valparaiso, Ind. / Valparaiso] had the lowest score at the Fall Final with a second-round 69 in order to become a member of the MIAA First Team All-Conference. Civanich was the individual medalist of the MIAA Championship event with a 148 (79-69).
Jack Brockie [Jackson, Mich. / Hanover Horton] fired a day two 75 en route to a finish tied for sixth. He completed the 36 holes with a score of 154 (79-75).
Mitch Lowney [Fenton, Mich. / Clarkston Everest] achieved his third career all-conference honor after scoring a 158 (78-80) at the MIAA Championships. He tied for 12th in the player standings to become a Second Team All-MIAA recipiant.
Charlie Eriksen [Bloomfield Hills, Mich. / Cranbrook Kingswood] took two strokes off his day one score with a 160 (81-79).
Brogan Brockie [Jackson, Mich. / Hanover Horton] finished with a 167 (81-86).
Competing as an individual, Carter Rang [Fort Wayne, Ind. / Concordia Lutheran] tied with Brockie at 167 (77-90).
