HUDSONVILLE, Mich. – Charlie Eriksen of the Trine University men's golf team has been named Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Athlete of the Week.
It is the sixth time this season that a member of the team has earned the weekly distinction and the first time in Eriksen's career.
The senior led the way for the Thunder this past weekend as they competed in the Illinois Wesleyan Invitational. The team finished 12th overall at the two-day event, the highest finish of the four MIAA teams in attendance. Eriksen finished in a tie for 28th individually with 151 strokes (79-72). In his best round, coming on Saturday, he recorded four birdies to finish with 72 strokes.
The Thunder are in action today at the Steven Tyler Memorial, hosted by Kalamazoo College and played at the Moors Golf Club in Portage, Mich. Then they will host the opening round of the MIAA's NCAA Automatic Qualifier tournament on Saturday, April 15. The event is set to take place at Glendarin Hills Golf Club and will start at 1 p.m.
