ADRIAN, Mich. – Three members of the Trine University men's hockey team have received end of season honors from the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA). Sophomores Sam Antenucci and Sean Henry each took spots on the all-conference team while Michael DiPietra was named to the all-freshman squad.
This marks the first season that multiple Thunder have made the all-conference team. Antenucci and Henry are the fourth and fifth student-athletes in program history to earn the award. DiPietra is the fifth member of the program to reach the all-freshman team.
Antenucci was the team's leading scorer, both during conference play and in total. For the season, the forward leads the team with 32 points and with 14 goals while sitting second with 18 assists. During conference games he leads the team in all three categories with 22 points including ten goals and 12 assists.
Henry has been a solid fixture on the defense throughout the season. His steady presence has helped the team allow just under 15 shots per game and only 2.64 goals. He's also been crucial on the offensive side finishing third on the team with ten assists and tied for fourth with 14 points during conference play. Overall, he is second among Trine defenders with 16 points.
DiPietra was a standout freshman for the Thunder, leading his classmates in scoring throughout the season. Overall, he has 15 points including seven goals and eight assists, all leading the freshman class. During conference play he is tied for sixth on the team with 11 points and tied for second with six goals.
Trine, currently ranked 11th in the USCHO.com Division III Coaches Poll, swept visiting Lawrence University this past weekend, earning a spot in the NCHA Harris Cup semifinals for the third straight season. They will travel to face St. Norbert College on Saturday, February 24 in a battle between the second and third seeds. The Knights are also ranked tenth in the nation. Opening puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m. CT / 8 p.m. ET.
