EXCELSIOR, Minn. – The Trine University men's hockey team dropped to 14th in the USCHO.com Division III coaches poll following their overtime loss to St. Norbert College.
The Thunder received 49 points in this week's poll. Curry College had 65 points to come in at 13th and Bethel University rounded out the rankings with 47 points and 15th place. Two other members of the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) were ranked with Adrian College seated at third and St. Norbert coming in at eighth.
Trine dropped out of the NCHA Harris Cup Playoffs on Saturday, falling 4-3 in overtime against the Green Knights during the semifinal round. After trailing 1-0 in the first intermission, Sam Antenucci and Thad Marcola each netted a goal to give the Thunder a lead at the halfway point of the second. The home team retook the lead in the third, but Bobby Price tied the game again in the ninth minute. St. Norbert scored the lone goal of overtime to take the victory.
Trine finishes the season 20-8 overall, the most wins in program history. Their third-place finish during the NCHA regular season is also a program best.
