ADRIAN, Mich. – The Trine University men's lacrosse team was defeated by their hosts from Adrian College by the score of 14-5.
The Bulldogs scored the first three goals of the contest, two in the first and one in the second. The Thunder finally got on the board in the third minute of the second period. Kramer Zastrow scored the tally with J'Oshua Shaw adding an assist. A little over a minute later Collin Custer added a second goal to cut the deficit back to one at 3-2.
Adrian went on their longest run of the evening over the final seven minutes of the first half and the first seven of the second half, scoring nine straight goals and making the score 12-2. Patrick Doyle broke up the streak in the third period with his goal which was followed closely by a goal from Aidan Kubiak. The score was 12-4 heading into the final period.
Mitchell Voglewede scored the final goal of the game with just over two minutes remaining in regulation. It followed two more by the home side which built the score to its final at 14-5.
Nick DiPaolo was under fire all night as he tended net for the Thunder. He faced 32 shots in the contest and finished with 18 saves despite the lopsided final score.
Trine falls to 7-8 overall and 1-3 in Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) play following the loss. They will continue their season by hosting Hope College on Tuesday, April 23. Opening faceoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
