FREELAND, Mich. – Trine University men's soccer student-athlete Tyler Murphy [Greenfield, Ind. / Greenfield Central] was named First Team All-Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) over the weekend. It is the second time that Murphy has been selected to the All-MIAA team after being a Second Team recipient in 2020.
The sophomore forward wrapped up regular season play with 15 goals and two assists for 32 points. His 15 goals and 32 points are good for second-most in the MIAA. Murphy inked four game-winning goals, including wins over Anderson University, Olivet College, Albion College and Alma College. He scored multiple goals on five different occasions in 2021 and found the back of the net in six of the eight MIAA contests. Murphy had a shot on goal percentage of .659 and converted his only penalty kick opportunity.
The Trine men's soccer team advanced to the MIAA Semifinals and will square off with the top seed, Calvin University on Wednesday, November 3. Kick-off for that match in Grand Rapids, Michigan will be at 7 pm.
