ANDERSON, Ind. -- The Trine University men's tennis team came home with a 6-3 win over their hosts from Anderson (Ind.) University.
The Thunder started the event with a pair of wins in the doubles portion of the day. Sophomore Aaron Streit (New Paris, Ind. / Fairfield) and freshman Ryan Smith (Peru, Ind. / Peru) took the No. 1 match 8-2. Sophomore Drew Dixon (Fishers, Ind. / Fishers and junior Jaxon Davis (Angola, Ind. / Angola) won a marathon match in the No. 2 doubles winning by the score of 8-7(8-6).
Trine then cruised to the win with three victories in the singles portion of the match. Senior Isaac Everitt () picked up the win in No. 1 singles with scores of 6-1, 6-4. Streit won handily in the No. 2 match going 6-4, 6-1 and Davis took the No. 3 match with scores of 4-6, 6-0, 6-3. Finally, Dixon took the No. 5 match 7-6(8-6), 6-4.
The Thunder improve to 7-3 following the win. They will take the courts again tomorrow, Saturday, March 27 when they travel to face Manchester University for a 1 p.m. match.
