ANDERSON, Ind. -- The Trine University men's tennis team dropped their second dual match of the season with a 5-4 loss to Anderson (Ind.) University.
The Thunder fell behind early in the match failing to secure a doubles victory and entering the singles portion of the day down 3-0.
Freshman Cole Goodman (Eagle, Mich. / Grand Ledge) gave the team their first point of the day with a 6-1, 6-0 victory in the No. 1 match. The Ravens would then secure their victory by taking the No. 2 and No. 3 matches.
Trine would take the final three matches in the contest to get to the final score of 5-4. Sophomore Ryan Smith (Peru, Ind. / Peru) took the No. 4 match 7-6 (7-1), 6-1. Junior Drew Dixon (Fishers, Ind. / Fishers) needed a tiebreaker but came up with the victory in the No. 5 match 6-2, 1-6, 10-6. The final win for the team came from freshman Caleb Morris (Terre Haute, Ind. / Terre Haute South Vigo) with a score of 7-6 (7-0), 6-3.
The team falls to 2-2 following the loss. They will return to the court when they host Bethel (Ind.) University for a 2 p.m. contest on Tuesday, Sept. 28
