WOOSTER, Ohio – The Trine University men's tennis team dropped a hard-fought dual to their hosts from the College of Wooster, falling by the score of 6-3.
After the Scots took the both the No. 2 and No. 3 matches relatively quickly it left just the No. 1 teams on the court. That match would be a long one, but it eventually went in favor of the Thunder with freshman Sammy Yin and sophomore Andrew Spirrison securing the 8-6 victory.
Yin would go on to account for another team point by taking the No. 1 singles match 6-2, 7-5 with junior Cole Goodman adding another in the No. 2 match, 6-3, 7-5. Spirrison came up just short in a marathon contest in the No. 3 match falling after a tiebreaker, 7-5, 3-6, 10-4. Senior Drew Dixon had the other close singles contest, falling 4-6, 5-7 in the No. 6 match.
Trine falls to 3-1 after the loss. Individuals from the team will next compete when they travel to the Hope College Invite. That event is scheduled to start on Friday, September 15.
