FREELAND, MICH. The Trine University men's indoor distance medley relay team has been recognized as this week's Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Track "Athletes of the Week" for their combined efforts this past Saturday.
The team of Levi Neuzerling (Noblesville, Ind./Noblesville), Kyran Pearson (Elkhart, Ind./Elkhart Central), Aiden Lapp (South Bend, Ind./Riley) and Neil O'Brien (Whiteland, Ind./Roncalli) posted a mark of 10:22.40 in the DMR to win the event and set a school record in the process. The team improved the school record by over six seconds (10:28.83) that was set in February of 2020.
Their time of 10:22.40 ranks as the fourth fastest in the event so far this season in NCAA Division III and is the quickest in the conference by nearly a minute.
The DMR was one of six total event wins for the Thunder this past weekend in a home meet at the Keith E. Busse/Steel Dynamics Athletic and Recreation Center that helped lead Trine to an overall team victory by placing first of five teams.
Up next for Trine will be the MIAA Indoor Championship next Saturday, Mar. 6 at the Keith E. Busse/Steel Dynamics Athletic and Recreation Center. Trine will host the men's events with the day scheduled to start at 10 a.m.
