HUDSONVILLE, Mich. – Nathan Leap of the Trine University men's track and field team has been honored as the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Field Athlete of the Week. He becomes the fourth MIAA Field Athlete of the Week award winner this season for the Thunder.
The sophomore from Tipton, Indiana was in action at the Aurora Grand Prix on Friday and competed in the pole vault. Leap reached a height of 4.10 meters (13' 5.25") to place 10th overall in a loaded field of NCAA DIII teams. The mark is a personal best for the underclassman in the pole vault and ranks him second in the conference.
As a team, the Trine men finished third overall out of 17 institutions. Loras College were the team champions and currently sit 2nd in the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) National Rating Index.
The Thunder are at home for their next event on Saturday, February 4 for the Mrs. G Invitational. Events begin at noon inside the Keith E. Busse/Steel Dynamics Athletic and Recreation Center (ARC).
