HUDSONVILLE, Mich. – Sophomore Ethan Spahr of the Trine University track and field team has been tabbed Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Field Athlete of the Week after the Thunder were able to secure their third straight MIAA title at the conference championship event.
The Osseo, Michigan native scored points for the team in four different field events, including a pair of personal bests. Spahr was second in both the triple jump and javelin throw and also notched a sixth-place finishing position in the high jump and was seventh in the long jump.
In the triple jump, Spahr recorded a score of 13.34 meters (43' 9.25") and in the javelin, he had a best toss of 51.43 meters (168' 9.00"). Both of these are new personal bests for the sophomore. Spahr was able to put together jumps of 1.80 meters (5' 10.75") in the high jump and 6.57 meters (21' 6.75") in the long jump to conclude his MIAA Outdoor Championships with 21 total points.
