CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – The Midwest Collegiate Volleyball League (MCVL) has named Hunter Haas the conference's Defensive Player of the Week. It is the eighth time that the senior defensive specialist and libero has been tabbed as MCVL Defensive Player of the Week.
Haas, the Cincinnati, Ohio native, competed in six sets last weekend, including all four in the 3-1 victory against Marian University in the team's home opener. He also was in the back row for two sets versus Lakeland University, a five-set loss.
In Saturday's match with Marian, Haas registered 16 digs, a new season high. He is currently fourth early in the 2024 season in digs per set at 2.60. Against the Sabres, Haas was perfect on his 19 receptions on opposing serves and added two assists. The Lakeland match saw Haas register three digs, seven receptions, one assist and one kill.
Up next, the Thunder take on Bethel University in Indiana in a non-conference affair. That match begins at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, January 30.
