CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – The Trine University men's volleyball team saw senior defensive specialist and libero Hunter Haas named Midwest Collegiate Volleyball League (MCVL) Defensive Player of the Week for the third time this season. It is his second weekly award in a row and tenth of his career.
The Cincinnati, Ohio native was pivotal to a 3-0 weekend in western Pennsylvania. After sweeps against Thiel College, Buffalo State University and Penn State University-Behrend, the Thunder have now won six consecutive matches, including five in a row in three sets.
Haas averaged 4.1 digs per set and totaled 37 digs this week. The team's win over Buffalo State saw the senior notch 15 digs from the back row, the most in a match for the week. Throughout the weekend, Haas was credited with three assists, including two at Thiel. In serve receive, Haas was targeted 53 times and had just three errors.
Trine men's volleyball begins conference play inside the MCVL for their next match on Thursday, February 29 when Calvin University visits Hershey Hall. First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m.
