SHELBYVILLE, Ind. – It was a team victory for the Trine men's cross country team on Friday in the Mount St. Joseph Invitational over three other four other institutions: Manchester, Transylvania, Centre and host Mount St. Joseph's. Trine finished with a team score of 34, holding off the closest competition by 20 points.
Thunder athletes took five positions in the top 10, led by junior Jacob Myers [Kokomo, Ind. / Northwestern] with a fourth-place time of 27:39.7. Noah Acker [Kendallville, Ind. / East Noble] and Joseph Packard [Kokomo, Ind. / Western] followed Myers across the finish line with fifth and sixth place finishes. Acker had a time of 27:54.2 and Packard a 27:56.2.
Rounding out the top 10 lineup was freshman Eli Lantz [Fort Wayne, Ind. / Churubusco] in ninth, finishing with a time of 28:18.6, and junior Holden Martin [Indianapolis, Ind. / Scecina Memorial] in tenth at 28:19.8.
Noah Weslock [Howell, Mich. / Howell] and Matthew Edison [Russiaville, Ind. / Western] were the sixth and seventh scoring members of the team in 13th and 16th place overall.
The Huntington University Invitational is next on the schedule for Trine cross country. That event will take place on October 1, beginning at 6:15 pm.
