ANGOLA, Ind. – The Trine University Cross Country and Track & Field programs have announced the hiring of Michela Cholak as an assistant coach. She will be the head assistant for the men's and women's cross country teams and have a hand in coaching the 400- and 800-meter participants during the track and field season.
Prior to her being hired at Trine, Cholak was a graduate assistant coach at her alma mater, the University of Lynchburg. She prepared workouts and lifts, scheduled campus visits, ran the team's social media and planned travel and operations for the Hornet cross country and track and field programs.
As a student-athlete at Lynchburg, Cholak has received many accolades for her efforts on the course and in the classroom. She was named United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic five times in her career, tabbed All-Region five times and was named All-Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) six times. Cholak was a member of the 2018 distance medley relay team that holds the school record in the event at 12:37.50.
Cholak earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Physiology in May of 2020 and continued her education at the University of Lynchburg for her postgraduate degree as well. In 2022, she completed the Master of Public Health program.
