FREELAND, Mich. -- Freshman Adrienne Rosey (Schoolcraft, Mich. / Schoolcraft) has been named this week's Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) softball pitcher of the week.
This is the second time this season that a Thunder softball player has been named MIAA athlete of the week and the first time this season a pitcher has garnered the honor. It is the first time Rosey has earned the award in her career.
Rosey came up with three key appearances during the week as the team finished 5-1. In total, she finished the week with 16 strikeouts in 10 innings, while allowing just four hits and two runs for an ERA of 0.70.
Her first two appearances came in the team's MIAA doubleheader against Calvin University on Wednesday, April 14. In the first game of the day, Rosey entered the game in the sixth inning with the Thunder leading 5-2. She struck out all six batters she faced to finish with her fourth save of the season.
In the second game of the day, she entered the contest in the fifth inning and allowed her first run of the week, but she settled in and struck out another six batters in three innings of work. The team backed her up and she earned her first win of the week.
Her lone start of the week came against Kalamazoo on Friday, April 16. She pitched five innings allowing just one run on one hit. She struck out four in the game as she earned another win, her fifth of the season.
