FREELAND, Mich. – Trine University junior Amanda Prather (Indianapolis, Ind. / Roncalli) has been selected this week's Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Softball Position Player of the Week the conference announced today, Monday, April 18.
This is the third time this season that a Thunder softball student-athlete has been awarded an Athlete of the Week honor by the MIAA. It is the first time in Prather's career that she has received the award.
Prather led the way offensively for the team during a 3-1 week to take home the award.
Trine would start the week with an offensive explosion against Saint Mary's College sweeping both games in run-rule fashion. Prather went 4-for-4 in the opening game recording a team high seven RBIs, a total that tied for third most in program history. She recorded a pair of homers in the contest including a grand slam. In the second game she would go 1-for-2 recording another RBI for the team.
The team finished the week by splitting with Calvin University. Prather finished the doubleheader going 3-for-5 with two RBIs.
Overall, she finished with a .727 batting average, a .750 on-base percentage and a 1.455 slugging percentage during the week.
