HUNDSONVILLE, Mich. – Senior Anna Koeppl of the Trine University softball team has been named Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Softball Pitcher of the Week for the Monday, March 13 iteration of the award.
This is the first time in her career that Koeppl has earned the award and one of the first times this season that the Thunder have had a student-athlete named MIAA Athlete of the Week.
Koeppl led the way in the circle for Trine during a spring break that saw the team face a host of nationally-ranked opponents. She got the start four times during the trip and finished with three wins and a no-decision. She pitched 18 and two-thirds innings during those four games with a perfect 0.00 earned run average. She allowed just six hits and five walks while striking out 13.
Perhaps her biggest start came against fifth-ranked Berry College, despite not recording the win. She went four and two-thirds innings in the contest allowing just one hit and one walk while striking out four batters. The game finished regulation scoreless before the Thunder outpaced the Vikings 4-2 in the two extra innings.
