ANGOLA, Ind. – Freshman Debbie Hill has been named Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Softball Pitcher of the Week after a week that saw her pitch the third perfect game in program history.
It is the sixth time this season that a member of the team has earned MIAA Athlete of the Week honors and fourth time a pitcher has gotten the award. This is the first time Hill has been named for her pitching accomplishments and the second time overall for her career.
Hill made one appearance in the circle this week and turned in the second perfect performance by a Thunder pitcher. Earlier in the week junior Lauren Clausen recorded the second perfect game in program history. The only difference between the two performances was Hill finishing with eight strikeouts, leading the team for the week.
Trine swept their opposition this week finishing 4-0 and improving to 23-3 overall and 6-0 in MIAA competition. They will next take the field when they host Calvin University on Wednesday, April 19. The first game of the doubleheader is scheduled to start at 3 p.m.
