ANGOLA, Ind. – The Trine University softball team is set to host the 2024 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Softball Tournament which has been delayed until Friday, May 10 due to inclement weather.
Game 1, which features Trine and Adrian College is now scheduled for 11 a.m. on Friday, May 10. Game 2, featuring Calvin University and Hope College, will follow at 1 p.m. After a short break, Game 3 will be played at 3:30 p.m. as the first elimination contest of the weekend with Game 4 set for 5:30 p.m. Day two of the tournament is now set for Saturday, May 11.
All wishing to attend the tournament are encouraged to purchase their tickets online before arriving at Trine University. Tickets are available through the MIAA Website. Tickets will also be available for purchase on site.

Trine swept the Bulldogs during the regular season meetings but needed seventh inning heroics to secure the second game. The team pulled out to a 4-0 lead early in the opening game of the day, with Debbie Hill, Macy Rocha and Ashleigh Tranter all securing RBIs during the first two innings. Scarlett Elliott added a homerun in the fourth and the team ultimately won 5-1. Hill recorded a homer in the second game to give the team a 2-0 lead in the fourth before Adrian mounted a comeback in the late innings. The game was tied in the bottom of the seventh when Elliott leadoff with a single. The senior ultimately scored on a wild pitch after some crafty baserunning.
The Knights returned the favor later in the same week, sweeping Trine for just their second and third losses of the season. The Thunder had to score later in the contest to stave off a run-rule but lost the first game 13-7. The second game saw Calvin come from behind with four runs in the sixth on the way to a 4-2 win. In the most recent of the matchups, the Thunder swept Hope College convincingly to retake first place in the standings. They won the first game 10-1 before posting a 10-2 win in six innings for the second game.
Trine won their 13th MIAA Championship by finishing the season 14-2 in conference play, it is also their fifth straight. The team is currently ranked fifth in the nation and boasts a 36-3 record.
