ANGOLA, Ind. – The Trine University softball team secured an automatic bid to the 2024 NCAA Division III Softball Championship by capturing their third straight Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Softball Tournament Championship this past weekend. They learned this morning that they will host a four-team regional beginning on Thursday, May 16.
The Thunder will begin the three-day event by facing the winners of the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) automatic bid from Westminster (Pa.) College at noon on Thursday. The Titans finished the regular season in a three-way tie for the top of the conference standings, finishing with a 15-5 record in PAC play. They earned the conference's automatic bid by winning the conference tournament. Westminster enters the postseason with a 25-11 record.
The other half of the regional features the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, an at-large selection out of the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference where they finished second during the regular season. They will face off with another at-large selection from the University of Mount Union. The Raiders finished as regular season champions but fell in the conference tournament. The second game is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. on Thursday.
