ANGOLA, Ind. – Tara Bieniewicz [Chesterfield, Mich. / Dakota] of the Trine University women's basketball team has been named an All-American by D3hoops.com. She becomes just the second All-American in the NCAA DIII era of Trine women's basketball, with 2019 graduate Brandi Dawson being the other in the 2016-17 and 2017-18 seasons. Bieniewicz is honored as a Fourth Team All-American selection.
Bieniewicz helped anchor a team that made its first ever appearance in the NCAA Tournament Championship Semifinal after hosting the First and Second Rounds and winning a Sectional Championship at Transylvania University. The team had the fourth-best scoring defense (47.3 PPG) in the nation and notched the lowest three-point field goal percentage defense in program history at 22.1%.
The senior guard broke the school record with 85 three-point field goal makes in the 2021-22 season, the fourth-most in NCAA DIII. She was also able to tie the Trine record for most three's in a game with eight versus Springfield College in the NCAA Tournament. Bieniewicz scored a team-high 11.1 points per game this season and shot 40.5% from beyond the arc. Along with her efficient shooting, she had 2.9 rebounds and 1.4 assists per game with a 1.5 assist-to-turnover ratio.
