RICHMOND, Ind. – The Trine University women's golf team has two student-athletes at the top of the player leaderboard after day one of the IU East Invite from Highland Lake Golf Course. As a team, the Thunder sit in second place overall with a combined score of 328, five strokes back of Midway University.
Grace Dubec is the clubhouse leader with a 5-over 77 on Friday. She hit for par on eight of the nine holes on the back of the course as she hit her groove mid-round. The sophomore led the field with 13 total pars and had the lowest score of the day on par-4 holes.
Senior Lily Williamson is right on her heels after shooting a 78. She is tied for second-place after 18 of the 36 holes. Williamson hit for birdie on the par-3 hole number two and went 1-over par on the front.
Williamson's classmate Máire Sullivan fired an 84 to sit in a tie for 16th position at the halfway point. She led Trine in scoring on par-3's after going even on all four holes.
Bailey Bravata finished round one with an 89 and Reagan Guthrie a 92 to wrap up scoring for team members. Competing as an individual, Caroline Boyd secured a round of 82. She is just outside the top-10 in a tie for 11th and is second among those competing on their own.
Tomorrow's concluding round begins with a shotgun start bright and early at 8 am.
