MARSHALL, Mich. – The Trine University women's golf team placed fourth in Thursday's Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Jamboree #4 at The Medalist Golf Course. In the league standings, the Thunder moved up from sixth to fourth by scoring better than both Calvin University and Alma College in the event.
The Belles of Saint Mary's College were the team champions of the fourth MIAA round of the season at 328, two strokes up on Adrian College. Trine scored a 339.
Senior Máire Sullivan placed top five with a round of 79. She was 1-over on the front nine, including a birdie on the par-4 fifth hole. Sullivan had the lowest combined score on par-4 holes in the tournament.
Bailey Bravata fired an 85 on the day to enter a tie for 12th place overall. The sophomore highlighted her round with a birdie on the 11th hole. Classmate Grace Dubec tied for 19th on the player leaderboard with an 87. She hit eight pars in her round, three in a row on holes five through seven.
Senior Reagan Guthrie hit the most birdies of anyone in the event with four on her way to a score of 88. Holes 2, 9, 13 and 18 saw Guthrie go under par. Sophomore Caroline Boyd shot a 111. Competing as an individual, freshman Calley Ruff completed her round with a score of 95.
The MIAA Fall Final is next on the calendar for the Trine women's golf team. That event at Bedford Valley Golf Course in Battle Creek, Michigan takes place of October 7 and 8.
