GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Trine University women's golf team was in action on Wednesday at Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Jamboree #2. Calvin University played host at the Thornapple Pointe Golf Club.
The Thunder wrapped up play with a seventh-place finish. Trine tallied a team score of 348 and is seventh in the conference standings through two events this fall. Adrian College held the lowest team score in the round at 309.
Junior Grace Dubec was tied for 11th with a score of 80. After beginning the shotgun start on hole 16, her round was highlighted by an eagle on the par-5 5th hole. Dubec was able to find the cup from 164 yards away with her 5-iron to go 2-under par for the hole. "What an amazing memory for me," Dubec commented. "The eagle was so exciting! I knew I hit it solid but had no clue it would have a chance of going in. After some bad holes to start, it was a big moral booster!"
Sophomore Calley Ruff ended the day with a score of 86 (tied for 26th). Freshman Mae Norman and sophomore Grace Thiele each carded a 91 on Wednesday to tie for the final scoring spot in a tie for 41st. The final member of the team was junior Bailey Bravata with a 93 (46th). Individual scorer sophomore Sophie Argyle was also involved in the tie for 41st on the playerboard with a 91.
Play continues inside the MIAA on Saturday, September 30 with the third jamboree event of the year at Milham Park Golf Club, hosted by Kalamazoo College.
