DULUTH, Minn. -- The Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) has announced the conference All-Academic teams. The Trine University women's hockey team had 16 student-athletes named All-Academic, the second-most in the NCHA. The Trine University men's hockey team saw 17 All-Academic honorees, tied for third in the league.
The women were represented by seniors Devin Dzumaryk [Milford, Mich.], Emily Moore [London, Ont.], Hannah Nelson [Libertyville, Ill.], Emily Nettesheim [Hartland, Wis.], Jade Pandres [Eagle River, Alaska], Natasha Strbiak [Renton, Wash.], Makena Thompson [Anchorage, Alaska], Kirsten Vandenheuvel [Denfield, Ont.] and Brandi Wilson [Fenton, Mich.] as well as juniors Grace Canty [West Bloomfield, Mich.], Gabrielle Hicks [Layton, Utah], Grace Hicks [Layton, Utah] and Taryn Raisanen [White Lake, Mich.] and sophomores Abbie Bost [Chelsea, Mich.], Madison Toor [Hartland, Mich.] and Ellie Warhoftig [The Colony, Texas].
Pandres and Vandenheuvel are four-time NCHA All-Academic Award winners, while Dzumaryk, Strbiak and Wilson have each been named three times and Gabrielle Hicks, Moore, Nettesheim and Thompson twice.
On the men's side, the Thunder saw seniors Garett Hallford [McKinney, Texas], Justin Hendrickson [Marquette, Mich.], Brandon Krumpschmid [Grand Rapids, Mich.], and Hunter Payment [Monroe, Mich.] named NCHA All-Academic. Juniors Brad Jenion [Macclesfield, Great Britain], Justin Meers [St. Charles, Mo.], Brett Piper [Cartier, Manitoba], Brendan Prappas [West Bloomfield, Mich.], Brett Tierney [West Chicago, Ill.] and Zach VanCompernolle [Traverse City, Mich.] joined as upperclassmen and sophomores Jacob Berg [Plano, Texas], Beau Binnie [Stouffville, Ontario], Jared Bowman [Calgary, Alberta], Shane Brancato [Lake Villa, Ill.], Jackson Clark [Fort Mill, S.C.], Thad Marcola [Almont, Mich.] and Elias Sandholm [Stockholm, Sweden] were All-Academic for Trine as well.
Krumpschmid and Payment are three-time NCHA All-Academic honorees, while Hallford, Jenion, Meers, Prappas, Tierney and VanCompernolle have each been named All-Academic twice in their careers.
