ANGOLA, Ind. – The Trine University women's hockey team tallied their first goal of the season, but it wasn't enough as SUNY Canton left town with a 6-1 victory.
Despite a 10-3 difference in shots on goal during the first period, the Kangaroos only took a 1-0 lead into the first intermission. Once again sophomore Casey Frank was a huge reason that the team was still in the contest, coming up with nine saves in the first period.
The Thunder tied the game in the sixth minute of the second period. Payton Hans scored the goal after causing a turnover in the offensive end before cashing in.
The rest of the game went in favor of the visitors as the piled up both shots on goal and goals to take the 6-1 lead. Frank finished the game with 36 saves after facing more than 40 shots for the second night in a row.
Trine falls to 0-2 following the loss. They will jump into Northern Collegiate Hockey Association with their next contests, hosting the newcomers from the University of Dubuque next weekend. Game one of the doubleheader is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Friday, November 3.
