POTSDAM, N.Y. – The Trine University women's hockey team dropped their first game of a doubleheader against SUNY Potsdam by the score of 4-1.
The Bears built a lead through the open two periods of the contest, scoring in the first minute of play and then twice in the second period to take a 3-0 lead into the second intermission.
Coming off a power play opportunity the Thunder were able to continue running their offense and passed the puck through the point before coming up with their first goal of the day with ten minutes remaining in the period. Kailey Mleko scored the goal with Payton Hans and Dorka Gengeliczky adding assists.
With the score within two, Trine eventually pulled their goalie to pressure for a tie. The strategy backfired and Potsdam scored an empty netter in the final seconds of the game to make the score final at 4-1.
Trine falls to 0-9-0 overall following the loss. They face off with the Bears again tomorrow, Wednesday, November 22 at 12 p.m.
