ANGOLA, Ind. – The Trine University women's lacrosse team will be competing for a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Tournament Championship at Hope College on Saturday, May 4 beginning at 4 p.m. The team is in search of their first MIAA title and their first appearance in the NCAA Tournament in program history.
All those wishing to attend must purchase a ticket online through the MIAA TICKETING PORTAL. General admission tickets for adults in $10 with $5 tickets for MIAA faculty and staff and non-MIAA students. Children under five and MIAA students are free. Trine University and the MIAA strongly suggests purchasing your tickets ahead of time and bringing either a digital or print copy of your ticket to the game. In the semifinal round, the Thunder used a 6-1 edge in the second quarter to defeat Kalamazoo College by a score of 15-11. Brooke Hoag led the team in scoring with five goals while Danielle Gargiulo netted four goals and Courtney Rhodes three. Goalie Maddy Kasten made 11 saves in net for the team.
In Hope's semifinal game, they topped Albion College 17-7. In the regular season meeting between the two teams, the Flying Dutch were able to get the upper hand 18-10 to help them secure the MIAA regular season crown. In total, 13 All-MIAA honorees will be on the field in the conference's tournament championship game.
For Trine, Kasten, Hoag and Calista Richmond were selected as First Team All-MIAA award winners while Alyssa Keptner and Evalyn Bellotti represented the Thunder on the Second Team.
