ANGOLA, Ind. – Trine University women's soccer scored four goals in ten minutes to cruise to a commanding 4-0 victory over visiting Anderson (Ind.) University.
Abby Robison accounted for three of the four goals finishing with two goals and an assist in the contest. Junior Bella Mabry combined with Robison on two of those goals and then set up another finishing with one goal and two assists.
The Sophomore wasted no time getting the scoring started for the Thunder. On the team's first possession of the game, Robison sped through the Raven defense before passing back to junior Bella Mabry who quickly fired a shot into the back of the net for the 1-0 lead. The goal came 57 seconds into the contest.
In her second start of the season Reganne Koskela set up the second goal of the contest for Trine with a long pass up the center of the field. Robison blazed a trail through the defense to receive the freshman's pass inside of the penalty area with just the keeper to beat. Robison cashed in with a low shot to the right side of the net.
The Thunder earned the first corner kick of the game in the eighth minute of play, with Mabry setting up to take the chance. She placed the ball into a throng of bodies in front of the net. After taking a few bounces, the ball landed in position for senior Olivia Argentieri to bang it past the keeper for the third goal of the game.
The final goal of the contest came off another corner kick from Mabry, earning her second assist of the contest. This time she found a wide-open Robison on the far side of the net, who simply had to deflect the ball into the back of the net for her second goal of the day.
With a 4-0 lead, Trine started to sub in backups and young players which slowed the offensive production. On the other side of the field, junior Sydney Kalinger got the start in net and ended the game with six saves and the win.
The Thunder improve to 3-2-4 overall following the lopsided victory. They will continue their season when they travel to face Denison University on Saturday, September 23. The game is set to kick off at 3 p.m.
