HUDSONVILLE, Mich. – Sophomore Abby Robison has been named this week's Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Women's Soccer Offensive Athlete of the Week, the conference office announced today.
It is the third time this season that a Thunder student-athlete has been named athlete of the week. It is the second time this season and third overall for Robison.
Trine finished the week with four points toward the MIAA standings. They started off with a lopsided 5-0 victory over Alma College which saw Robison tally a goal and an assist. Her assist came on the game winning goal.
Then, on Saturday, Robison scored the team's lone goal against Albion College. The shot tied the game at one and eventually secured a crucial point toward the league standings. A loss would have all but eliminated the team from playoff contention.
The Thunder are currently in a tie with Saint Mary's College for the final spot in the playoff bracket. Trine owns the tiebreaker in that matchup, so a win in their final regular season match would secure a berth. Trine can finish as high as fifth depending on other results from around the conference.
The regular season will conclude on Tuesday, October 24 when the Thunder travel to face The University of Olivet. That match is scheduled to start at 4 p.m.
