ANGOLA, Ind. – The Trine University women's tennis team secured their seventh win of the season by sweeping Manchester University 9-0.
The dual began with doubles where the Thunder would win three lopsided matches. In the No. 1 match seniors Ashley Spirrison (Fishers, Ind. / Hamilton Southeastern) and Ellie Cole (Albion, Ind. / Central Noble) would win in straight pointes 8-0. In the No. 2 match sophomore Jadyn Davis (Angola, Ind. / Angola) and freshman Bekah Trent (Harrodsburg, Kent. / Mercer County Sr.) came up with a 8-1 victory. Finally, in the No. 3 match junior Eva Morales (Elkhart, Ind. / Elkhart Memorial) and freshman Lizzie Welker (Maumee, Ohio / Springfield Sr.) would also win in straight points 8-0.
Spirrison would finish the day perfect winning 6-0, 6-0 in the No. 1 singles match, freshman Kennedy Outwater (Bronson, Mich. / Bronson) would win the No. 5 match in the same fashion. Davis would win 6-2, 6-0 in the No. 2 match and Cole would do the same in the No. 4 match. Morales won the No. 3 match 6-1, 6-0 and Welker took the No. 6 match 6-2, 6-4 to finish off the 9-0 victory.
The Thunder improve to 7-3 following the win. They will remain at home for their next contest which comes on Sunday, March 27. The team will host Kalamazoo College for a 1 p.m. dual.
