WAVERLY, IOWA -- The Trine University women's indoor track & field team concluded the two-day Division III Elite Indoor Championships hosted by Wartburg College with the final day of events and placed in a tie for 10th place.
The Thunder posted a team score of 18 points and tied with the U.S. Coast Guard Academy for 10th place of 28 teams. Host school Wartburg came in first place after accumulating a two-day total of 131.50 points and was followed by the University of Dubuque (Iowa) in second with 80.50 points. Bethel (Minn.) University was third at 43 points.
Trine's lone competitor on the final day was freshman Haley Livingston (Fort Worth, Texas/Everman) in both the 60-meter hurdles final and in the long jump.
After improving upon her indoor record in the 60m hurdles yesterday (Friday) in the prelims, Livingston ran a mark of 9.27 seconds in the finals which put her in sixth place.
Then in the long jump, Livingston placed third overall thanks to a best effort of 17' 2.25" falling two inches shy of matching her indoor record in the event that she set earlier this season (Feb. 27).
With the conclusion of this weekend's Division III Elite Indoor Championships, the Trine women wrap-up the indoor season and will next set its sights on outdoor competition. Stay tuned for more details and future dates of competition.
