INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Trine University women's track and field team was in action on Saturday at the University of Indianapolis for their team invitational.
In field events, Valerie Obear [Fishers, Ind. / Hamilton Southeastern] tied for first in the weight throw at 18.36 meters (60' 3.0"), a new personal best. Kennedi Sternberg [Kouts, Ind. / Kouts] was first in her flight, but tied for second overall in the long jump with a career-best 5.36 meters (17' 7.0").
Haley Livingston [Fort Worth, Texas / Everman] placed third in the triple jump with a score of 10.85 meters (35' 7.25") and Madelyn Summers [Kendallville, Ind. / East Noble] was fifth in the shot put with a toss of 11.53 meters (37' 10.0"). Also in field events, Aubrey Larner [Williamston, Mich. / Okemos] tied for sixth in the high jump at a height of 1.52 meters (4' 11.75") and Autumn Presley [Pleasant Lake, Ind. / Angola] tied for eighth at 2.90 meters (9' 6.25") in the pole vault.
Livingston and Sternberg also turned in top times in track events. Livingston was fourth in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.18 seconds while Sternberg placed fifth in the 200-meter dash at 27.07 seconds.
Stephanie Hartpence [Elkhart, Ind. / Concord] was a fourth-place finisher for the Thunder in the 400-meter dash after turning in a time of 1:03.44, while Amira Faulkner [Bellbrook, Ohio / Bellbrook] was seventh in the mile run at 5:24.13 and Marissa Kenney [South Bend, Ind. / J.W. Riley] eighth in the 800-meter run at 2:28.95.
Next weekend serves as the final warm-up before conference championships as Trine sends athletes to Hillsdale College and the University of Notre Dame on Saturday, February 19.
