NORTH MANCHESTER, Ind. – The Trine University women's track and field team was in action on Saturday at the Manchester Invitational and displayed dominance with top-five finishes in all events entered. The Thunder had four event wins as well.
Both relay teams were victorious, including the 4x100-meter team of Aniyah Small, Emma Forker, Kaleigh Maschino and Mackenzie Miller which ran a 49.05-second time, just missing the school record mark. The 4x400-meter relay squad consisting of Adrianne Jackson, Brynn Mericle, Kristin Baker and Anissa Rios also finished atop the leaderboard at 4:09.61.
Individually, Miller won the 200-meter race at 25.85 seconds and the long jump at 5.27 meters (17' 3.50"). Miller was runner-up in the 100-meter finals to conclude her day (12.53 seconds). The final two track events were highlighted by Mericle with a second-place finish in the 100-meter hurdles (16.09 seconds) and Rios with a third-place spot in the 400-meter race at 1:03.59.
Student-athletes were also in action in multiple field events at Manchester. Isabel Ferguson was second in the high jump (1.55 meters / 5' 1.00"), a score good enough to tie her own school record mark. Ferguson was also third in the triple jump at 10.23 meters (33' 6.75"). Avery Boyce secured third place for herself in the pole vault at 3.05 meters (10' 0.00") while Malena Ricks was fifth in the javelin at 31.12 meters (102' 0.00").
Up next, the Thunder compete in the Indiana DIII Championships at DePauw University on Saturday, April 13.
