COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- The College Triathlon Coaches Association (CTCA) has announced its list of collegiate triathlon Scholar All-Americans with Trine University women's triathlon team heavily recognized.
The Thunder were one of 31 teams that were honored as Scholar All-American Teams for their teamwide accomplishments. In addition five individuals were recognized by the organization.
Juniors Amira Faulkner (Bellbrook, Ohio / Bellbrook) and Alexandria Smith (Temperance, Mich. / Bedford) were joined by senior Kyra Warren (Kendallville, Ind. / East Noble) in being recognized as Scholar All-Americans, joining just eight other Division 3 student-athletes.
Junior Cameron Hoellrich (New Bavaria, Ohio / Holgate) and sophomore Rebecca Schaffner (Adrian, Mich. / Adrian) joined nine other Division 3 student athletes in being named in the Honorable Mention category.
This season saw the Thunder deliver the program's first ever national championship in November. The event, held at Tempe Town Lake near the campus of Arizona State University, featured a 750-meter swim, 20-kilometer bike and 5-kilometer run. It was a part of the Sun Devil Draft Legal Classic, with the races separated by division.
Trine athletes were honored as All-Americans following the race including Faulkner and Smith with first team honors and Warren receiving second team honors.
