ANGOLA, Ind. – The Trine University women's triathlon team has announced their slate of competition for the 2023 season.
The Thunder will travel to Beaver Falls, Pa. for their first competition scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 9. The event is hosted by Duquesne University, which is sponsoring triathlon for the first time this year.
Next the team heads to Decatur, Ill. To participate in the Millikin University Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 23. Last season the Trine made the same trip and finished second among the nine teams in attendance, just 18 points from first.
Finally, the team will travel to East Regional National Qualifier on Saturday, Oct. 14. The event, which will take place in Smith Mountain Lake, Va., is a chance for the Thunder to earn a spot at the Women's Collegiate Triathlon National Championships. Nationals are hosted by Arizona State University in Tempe, Ariz.
Trine has excelled on the national stage for the past three contested seasons. Both last year and in 2019 the team finished national runners-up at the final event and in 2021 the Thunder were national champions.
