NEW ORLEANS -- The United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) has announced their week one NCAA Division III Cross Country Regional Rankings for the 2021 season and the Trine University women's cross country team held firm at third in the Great Lakes.
The Thunder were also ranked third in the preseason edition of the regional rankings. Also holding their spots were fellow Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) member Hope College in first and John Carroll University in second.
Trine's lone competition of the season so far was at the Manchester Hokum Karem, a partner relay styel event, where no team score was awarded. The team of Carol Haldeman [Syracuse, Ind. / Fairfield] and Evie Bultemeier [Fort Wayne, Ind. / Homestead] took first place at the event with a time of 34:24.8. Behind them, the duo of Lydia Randolph [Jefferson, Ohio / Edgewood Senior] and Amira Faulkner [Bellbrook, Ohio / Bellbrook] placed fifth overall at 36:23.3. Chloe Goodrich [Burlington, Ind. / Carroll Jr./Sr.] and Ellie Warhoftig [The Colony, Texas / Reedy] finished just outside the top-10 in 12th at 37:53.1, the first freshman only squad to cross the finish line for the Thunder.
The Thunder are set to compete again this Friday, Sept. 17 when they travel to the Mount St. Joseph Invitational which will take place at the Blue River Cross Country Course in Shelbyville, Ind.
