NEW ORLEANS, La. – The Trine University women's cross country team moved up a spot in the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Regional Rankings.
The week six voting moved the Thunder ahead of Case Western Reserve University. In total, seven of the 10 regionally ranked squads changed places in a season that has been mostly stagnant in the Great Lakes region.
Trine placed fifth at the Oberlin Inter-Regional Rumble last weekend, with senior Evie Bultemeyer [Fort Wayne, Ind. / Homestead] reigning as the individual champion. Bultemeyer also was named Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Athlete of the Week for the second time in 2021.
All five scoring members of the Trine team at Oberlin were able to secure season-best 6K times. This includes Chloe Brittain [Wheeler, Mich. / Breckenridge], Carol Haldeman [Syracuse, Ind. / Fairfield], Chloe Goodrich [Burlington, Ind. / Carroll] and Lydia Randolph [Jefferson, Ohio / Edgewood Senior].
Friday, October 30 marks the first post-season cross country event for the Thunder women, the MIAA Championships. That event will be at Saint Mary's College in Notre Dame, Indiana.
