NEW ORLEANS, La. – The United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) has announced their 2022 Preseason NCAA DIII Women's Cross Country National Coaches Poll. The Trine University women's cross country team is ranked 24th to open the season.
The Thunder and head coach Zach Raber are fresh off the program's first NCAA DIII National Championship appearance as a team in 2021 and looking for even more success this season. Although the team will be without All-American Evie Miller (Bultemeyer), five of the six participants return to the roster this fall. Junior Carol Haldeman was the second-highest Trine finisher at nationals last season with a 22:38.2, her best race of 2021.
Seniors Chloe Brittain, Amira Faulkner, Brianna Medcalf, and Alli Smith provide leadership for the squad and will be pivotal for the team to get back to the year-end national meet.
After a year of collegiate experience, sophomores Lydia Randolph and Chloe Goodrich look to lower their own personal record marks they set in the 6k in 2021.
The women's cross country season kicks off at Ohio Northern University on September 3 for the Polar Bear Invitational.
