ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Trine University women's cross country team brought home a third-place finish on Saturday morning at the Yellowjacket XC Invitational at Genesee Valley Park.
The 6k event was won by New York University with a score of 46 and Ohio Northern University was second at 98 points. The Thunder had 116 points through five scoring members out of the 25 teams in attendance.
Lydia Randolph led the way for Trine with a third-place individual finish out of nearly 300 competitors. She completed the race with a time of 23:00.3. Carol Haldeman was shortly behind and just outside the top-10 in 11th place overall at 23:30.6.
Brianna Medcalf was 29th with a time of 24:09.0, a career-best for the senior. Amira Faulkner and Ana Parker were the final two scoring members for the team in 34th and 39th places. Faulkner crossed the finish line in 24:15.1, while Parker compiled a time of 24:19.0. Parker took 24 seconds off of her previous career best.
Trine looks to build on this team performance in two weeks when the team takes the course at the NCAA Pre-National Championships on Saturday, October 1. The women's race starts at 10:30 am at Forest Akers Golf Course in Lansing, Michigan.
